NBA Western Conference Futures: Can Anyone Catch the Warriors?

If you cheer for a team outside of the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference, chances are you’re tired of seeing the Dubs year in and year out. Such is life when you’re dealing with a team as talented as the Dubs.

Unsurprisingly, the Warriors are massive -275 chalk to win the West at Bovada. The Houston Rockets (+500), San Antonio Spurs (+800), Oklahoma City Thunder (+900), Minnesota Timberwolves (+1800), Los Angeles Clippers (+7500), Portland Trail Blazers (+12500), New Orleans Pelicans (+12500), Denver Nuggets (+15000), Utah Jazz (+20000), and Los Angeles Lakers (+50000) are all in plus-money.

As of January 18, the Warriors were leading the conference at 37-9 SU, with Houston (30-12), San Antonio (30-16), Minnesota (29-17), Oklahoma City (25-20), New Orleans (23-21), the Los Angeles Clippers (23-21) and Portland (23-21) occupying the other playoff spots.

Injuries have taken their toll on the West this season, but as most clubs are starting to get healthy, the Spurs got hit with some bad news regarding superstar small forward Kawhi Leonard. Leonard, who missed the first few months of the campaign, was sidelined indefinitely in mid-January with no timetable to return. Head coach Gregg Popovich did announce Leonard will return at some point this season, though, so Spurs futures bettors shouldn’t fret if he’s back in time for the playoffs.

Can anyone catch the Warriors in 2017-18, or does Steve Kerr’s club already have the West locked up? Have your say in the comments.
