UFC: Khabib vs Ferguson Betting Odds

Maybe the fourth time is the charm. After being booked to face each other three times already and having something interfere on each of those occasions, Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov are set to square off yet again at UFC 223 in Brooklyn, New York.

The most recent time these two dominant lightweights were scheduled to meet was at UFC 209 for the interim lightweight crown. Unfortunately, Nurmagomedov was rushed to the hospital while cutting weight and the bout was called off.

Once Dana White said that the fight was made for UFC 223, odds were reopened with Nurmagomedov at -200 and Ferguson coming back at +160 via Bovada

Nurmagomedov is a perfect 25-0 in his MMA career with 16 of those victories coming via stoppage. Khabib last competed in the Octagon at UFC 219 where he mauled Edson Barboza.

With a master of sambo and a black belt in judo, Khabib excels in suffocating his opponent possibly more than any other fighter in the UFC. Nurmagomedov is relentless in his pursuit of the takedown, and holds the record for most takedowns in a single match in UFC history (21), but is far from out of his element when it comes to striking. Khabib has a deadly array of punches and knees that can easily set up a T/KO victory.

Ferguson, the current interim champion, is 13-1 in the UFC and enters this fight on a 10-fight win streak. “El Cucuy” is excellent at using his reach to his advantage in the standup game, but is a volume striker who likes to push the pace. He has knockout power in both hands while also demonstrating a varied arsenal on his feet. Ferguson is not just a striker, as nine of his 23 career victories have come via submission. His slick movement and aggressive style put opponents in awkward positions that he capitalizes on.
